Tinuke Eboka (call her Tnx – pronounced Tinks) styled herself in a bold winter Spree look that ticks at least five winter trend boxes. No, we don’t really talk about fashion in terms of trends anymore, but that’s not really the point here. Call them current obsessions, call them style moods – when they look like this, it really doesn’t matter what you call them.
A masculine coat (amped up with the kind of bold colour that feels positively feminist) is a close relative of winter’s suit dressing infatuation. Said bold colour – that sense of winter optimism – is another key winter moment. This isn’t saffron – it’s saffron saturated, and it pairs perfectly with the deeper shades of burgundy below. Monotone. Tick.
Local design is not a trend – it’s an ideal we should all strive for, or at the very least integrate into our daily looks. Enter the Thebe Magugu sheer lightning bolt sweater from his Home Economics collection. It’s a guaranteed head turner.
Then there’s a welcome athleisure moment with these tear-away pants. They go perfectly with bold sock boots. Tick tick.
Of course, each of these pieces would work just as well in different contexts, but right now, Tnx’s colour-coded look is giving us life.
