So how was your #BonangFriday? The self-proclaimed queen of cognac made her fabulous return to the small screen, ready to give the people another season of what they want and more. Of course she who reigns supreme was serving plenty looks to slay. No self respecting member of the #BForce need go another minute without channeling the queen’s key looks from her season 2 premiere.
The statement white top
Bonang narrated the episode in a white fringe dress with open shoulders – a welcome reminder of the crisp regal appeal of a statement white piece. Make the look workable for your day-to-day life (not all of us have narrating our own reality show on our agenda) by wearing a bold white top and and pairing it with trousers (think track pants, think flare denim) or a skirt of your choice.
From the promo pic above to almost every scene in the first episode, it’s clear B likes to adorn her ears with nice things. She loves a good hoop, but isn’t afraid to experiment with other styles. There’s only one rule here: bigger is better.
Spot the print
Did the scene where she’s jamming in the car en route to Pinky’s birthday not give you life? Obvi, Bongang got the memo: spots are making a comeback.
All black with texture
Another day, another cover shoot. That’s the life of Bonang. Behind the scenes at her June cover shoot for True Love, it’s clear the styling was all about fashion’s favourite colour. A key element to these all-black looks (apart from the sizzling lingerie element) was a focus on texture to make the monotone palate come alive.
Everybody loves a great pair of blockout sunglasses. Everyone being Bonang, Pinky and Lorna. It’s an effortless way to give your look an extra dose of fashion appeal, and helps block out all the drama we’re sure will ensue over the course of the season.
Oh, and one more thing. (Spoiler alert ahead if you haven’t seen the episode yet!) It’s a fashion life tip worthy of a fridge or bumper sticker: always remember never to place your handbag on the floor. Why not? Bonang says it best: “money’s not gonna enter your bank account, or enter your handbag, or enter your life.”
