Jackets & Knitwear
As they grow up boys do their best to assure us they don’t need their parents fussing over them, but they still need to wrap up when the cold weather hits. Help the boys in your life keep warm with trendy jackets, hoodies and jerseys that are practical, but easy to wear. Before the cold weather arrives, do a wardrobe audit and chat to him about the styles he likes wearing. He’ll want to be part of the shopping process, even if it’s just browsing online with you. Find styles that are good for layering such as lightweight sweaters, fleecy tops and hoodies. He can wear these under denim or bomber jackets. Ideally lookout for neutrals that won’t show up dirt and he can easily wear with the other items in his wardrobe. You can punctuate the styles with some graphic prints and colour block tops making it easy to mix and match with his bottoms.
When it comes to your teenager, he should be comfortable, but also encourage him to try different styles. As he’s slowly developing his sense of style and learning to express his identity, he’ll need to try different styles of clothing to work out what he does and doesn’t like. So, sure he likes casual hoodies and long-sleeve tees, but suggest he tries a jersey for layering over collared shirts and golfer T-shirts. Perhaps he doesn’t like jackets, so suggest he tries a denim or bomber jacket. It’s still dressed down and comfortable enough to wear with joggers, but it’s also a step forward from tracksuits. This is important for teenagers who will soon want to make their own wardrobe decisions entirely.
