Underwear is probably the most subjective and personal decision to make in menswear because it is worn every day, all day and if it doesn’t fit correctly you won’t feel or look comfortable. However, when selecting a style, it comes down to more than comfort, you need to also take your lifestyle and daily activities into consideration. It is important to look at style and materials when make your final choice and this can be tricky because there is a plethora of choice and if you make the incorrect choice you’re stuck with the consequences.
Boxer shorts are loose fitting, made of breathable cotton and generally very comfortable yet they offer little support. They come with an elastic waistband and a button fly and they have a tendency to punch up under clothing so they are ideal to use as sleepwear or possibly under pleated front trousers. Briefs usually offer a Y-shaped fly in the front and full coverage from the waist to the top of the thigh. Briefs provide excellent support and are less prone to bunching under clothes. They’re a great choice for men who wear tighter pants and they are perfect for men who work at a desk all day, because they end in the natural crease between the body and leg. Boxer briefs are the best of both types of underwear. They are cut like boxer shorts but offer the supportive fit of briefs. Similar to a brief, boxer briefs maintain their comfortable fit all day long. You can wear them under all pants types and they are excellent for physical activity. There are so many colours and patterns to choose from and like socks it can be fun to have a few pairs of bright patterned underwear in your wardrobe.
