It’s time to stock up on practical but fun wardrobe essentials for your son. They’re now at the age when they have an opinion on what they want to wear and are usually eyeing their favourite animal or character from a movie or TV show. As their parent, you’ll want to ensure you have enough styles that are comfortable and easy for him to wear. Cover the basics first with a pair of jeans, a few pairs of joggers and some shorts. You can then get printed long-sleeve and short-sleeve T-shirts in a selection of colours to mix and match. For the cooler weather choose a few hoodies and jerseys and at least one thick jacket to keep him snug and warm. He’ll also need a few shoe styles to get him through each season. In winter, you’ll favour sturdy sneakers. Look for a pair that is neutral enough to wear with most items in his wardrobe. For summer, he’ll need a pair of sandals or flip flops for beach trips and time outdoors and for winter, consider buying your young boy a pair of gum boots. No more drenched joggers after hitting outdoors in rainy weather. The added extras are a backpack or bag or school, sleepovers or storing new discoveries.
You’ll also want to look at getting him a few smarter items for special occasions, be it a birthday party or a family celebration that requires him to dress up. It doesn’t have to be a mini suit but a few smarter styles are handy. It’s a good idea to have a few coordinated outfits that he finds comfortable and you love. This way there’ll be less arguments when you need to dress him up.
